Institute
Hosts Third Annual Dinner
Completing its fifth year, the Institute reiterated
its commitment to the concepts of Islamic banking and
insurance, and urged world financial institutions to
channel their energies towards developing this system,
which is "as effective as it is compassionate".
The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif,
was to be the chief guest, and Sartaj Aziz, the finance
minister, was to be the guest speaker, however they
were recalled to Pakistan at short notice. In their
absence the Third Annual Dinner was attended by the
Pakistani High Commissioner to Britain, HE Riaz Samee,
and Humayun Akhter Khan, Minister of State and Chairman
of the Board of Investment.
