The third Annual Dubai Forum (11-13 November, 1996) was
attended by 250 delegates from 30 countries, representing
200 financial institutions, and comprised of bankers,
financiers, insurance executives and journalists, writes

and Insurance celebrated its most productive year yet,
the chief guest at this year's dinner, the President
of the prestigious Jeddah-based Islamic Development
Bank, highlighted the bank's role in promoting world-wide
Islamic banking.

Speaking at the Institute's second annual dinner, Michael
Clode a partner at world-renowned legal firm, Freshfields
in London, encouraged the creation and development of
new models and financial instruments to cope with the
unique demands of the Islamic system of finance, rather
than adapting existing modes. He also called for a more
'consistent interpretation of the Shariah'. |
