On 17th July, 2009 Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance (IIBI) and Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment (CISI) signed an agreement to work together to promote London as a leading centre for attaining Islamic finance qualifications. IIBI will promote CISI's Islamic Finance Qualification (IFQ - a joint initiative with stakeholders in Lebanon) as an entry level exam in the field. The CISI will promote the IIBI’s Diploma and post graduate Diploma in Islamic banking and insurance as qualifications for further progression for students following achievement of the IFQ. IIBI and CISI may choose to also develop a long-term strategy (to include market research and demand) relating to specialist Islamic Finance modules, i.e. Sukuk.
CISI and IIBI will develop a Professional Interest Forum (PIF) early next year for CISI members to which IIBI members will have complementary access while IIBI will also continue with its own online discussion forum, to which CISI members will have complementary access.
IIBI is one of the world’s leading independent organisations solely dedicated to the promotion and implementation of Islamic finance through profession education, training, seminars, conferences, advisory services, research and publications.
CISI is a professional body for practitioners in the securities and investment industry globally. CISI sets professional standards including the measurement of these standards through examinations. It also monitors and develops the competence of individual professionals through a code of conduct for individual and corporate members and through providing continuous professional development (CPD) opportunities for its membership, through seminars, conferences and web based services.
