Individual Membership of the Institute is open
to anyone and/or involved in the Islamic finance sector.
Membership year runs from January to December.

This grade of membership is open to all. Individuals do not need to have any qualifications or experience. Students enrolled onto any IIBI course qualify for free membership for one year. Ordinary paid up members can use 'MIIBI' in their title.

| Associate Fellow (AFIIBI) |
|
Person who has completed the IIBI Post Graduate Diploma is automatically admitted as an Associate Fellow and awarded a certificate of membership along with an Associate fellow card. To continue to enjoy the membership benefits at IIBI the Associate Fellow must renew their membership and pay the applicable fee. Associate Fellow paid up members can use 'AFIIBI' in their title.

Fellow (FIIBI) |

A Member who has maintained IIBI membership continuously for 9 years of which has worked for at least 6 years in the Islamic finance sector preceding the application.

An Associate Fellow who has maintained continuous membership for 6 years and has worked for at least 3 years in a position of responsibility at a senior level in the Islamic finance sector preceding the application.

An individual who has over 15 years of experience in banking, finance, insurance, education, training or research, of which 6 years preceding the application the individual would have significant involvement at senior management or specialist level working in the Islamic finance sector.
A Fellow paid-up member can use the title 'FIIBI'

| Honorary Fellow (Hon.FIIBI) |

An Honorary Fellow is the highest recognition which IIBI can bestow upon distinguished individuals who have played an active role in the Islamic finance sector and whose contributions should be considered ‘long lasting'. The decision on offering Honorary Fellow status will be taken by IIBI in consultation with IIBI Advisory Group and the decision will be final. An Honorary Fellow can use the title 'Hon.FIIBI'.
An Honorary Fellow is entitled to a lifetime membership without being subject to payment of membership fee. An Honorary Fellow will receive a card and a certificate to display.
IIBI members as well as non-members involved in the Islamic finance sector may nominate names for consideration as potential Honorary Fellow by writing to the Director General of IIBI providing full details of the person nominated and accompanied by a statement of around 300 words explaining how the nominee meets the criteria. Nominations for Honorary Fellow can also be made online by submitting the nomination form.
