  • Who should do the Post Graduate Diploma course?
    The course is primarily for those who are seeking a career in Islamic banking and finance. The course may also be taken by anyone who wishes to gain a more detailed knowledge about the fundamentals of Islamic economics and banking operations in preparation for further studies in Islamic finance. The course work also deals with Islamic insurance.
  • What is the objective of the course?
    It aims at building knowledge of both Islamic economic principles and working knowledge of banking from the beginning. The course material does not support any particular creed or promote any religious doctrine. For all purpose it aims at providing the basis for evolution and progression of Islamic finance through the universal principles of socioeconomic justice found also in other faiths.
  • Is the course for Muslims only?
    No. Any person of any faith or creed who is interested in learning and seeking knowledge in Islamic finance may apply, provided he/she has the entry requirement. It assumes no previous knowledge of banking or finance. Neither does it assume any previous knowledge of Islam.
  • How do I acquire a copy course syllabus?

  • Is the Post Graduate Diploma recognised or accredited anywhere in the world?/Who recognises your Diploma?
    Presently, the Durham University in UK has accorded recognition for entry onto their research MA as well as their modules on Islamic economics and Shariah compliant finance.  However, majority of the Islamic banks around the world accept the diploma awarded by the Institute. The Institute is approaching leading Islamic financial institutions and other organisations for recognition and accreditation

  • What qualification do I get after I complete the course?
    On successful completion of the course work you will be awarded Post Graduate Diploma certificate relevant to Islamic banking and insurance issued by the Institute of Islamic Banking & Insurance, London. You will also become an Associate Fellow of the Institute.
  • What are the career prospects after completing the course?
    You will be part of select group who have attained higher education in Islamic Finance. The Post Graduate Diploma should give you an advantage when you apply for jobs in the fast expanding Islamic financial sector

  • How do I enroll?
    Provided you meet the entry requirement, you must first complete the Application Form in the Diploma Section on our web site and send the completed form to the Institute. On receipt we will send you an acceptance letter with further information and advising you the course fee that you will have to pay and how to make payment
  • What is the entry requirement? / What is the required qualification?
    The basic requirement for the Post Graduate Diploma course is a good university degree and a good working knowledge of the English language. However, applicants who do not have a university degree but having a minimum of three years work experience in the field will also be considered
  • I’am a mature student - does that qualify me for your course?
    There is no age limit to do this course but you must be over 18 years old. You may apply anytime and whenever you want, provide you have the required qualification
  • Do I need a background in finance / banking to enroll on to the course?
    It is not essential for graduates. Persons with work experience should preferably have some background in finance/banking.
  • Can I get exemption from any of the modules/lessons?
    No, there is no exemption on this course from any of the modules / lessons.
  • When can I start the course?/ Is there any fixed dates to start the course?
    You can start the course at any time. There is no fixed date to start the course. You may enroll at any time. The course is based on distance-learn

  • Do you arrange for work and visit visas?
    No. There are no classes to attend. The course is a distance learning programme.

  • What is the fee/charges for the course?
    You will be advised the course fee in the acceptance letter that will be sent you after your application is received and accepted by us.
  • Does the fee cover the cost of registration and course materials?
    Yes, in most cases.
  • Are there any other charges for enrolment?
    No. You only pay the course fee advised to you. There are no hidden charges.
  • How do I pay you? Can I pay by credit card?
    You may pay the course fees by credit card (American Express, Visa, Master Card only). There are other payment options. These will all be advised in the acceptance letter sent to you after you have submitted your application form.
  • Can I pay in installments?
    We do not normally accept payment in installments.
  • Can I get any financial assistance? / Do you offer any kind of student support schemes or scholarships?
    No, presently there is no financial assistance or scholarship scheme provided by the Institute. However, we may give some consideration to students applying from developing countries, this will be communicated in the acceptance letter.
........METHOD OF STUDY
  • How do I study for the course?
    You will study the course by distance-learning using e-mail which is best for distance and time factors. If you do not have internet access then you may use the postal service but this may delay matters. You will initially be sent a starter set by post and subsequent course material by e-mail.
  • Why is the study method by distance-learning?
    This method was chosen to enable the maximum number of students from all parts of the world to benefit from the course at a low cost.  Students can study at their own pace and in their own home.
  • Do you provide the necessary course materials, like books and essays? / Do you provide reference materials or do I have to go out and buy them?
    After you are enrolled with us we will provide a very comprehensive study material for all the lessons. You do not need to buy any books. However, students are always encouraged to do further reading and research on the internet or in the library to be up-to-date with current developments in a particular field. The Institute also publishes its own magazine and reference books . For further information you may browse at our website.
  • What kind of course materials do you provide?
    Presently, the course consists of six modules on Islamic banking and insurance. You will have to answer questions at the end of most lessons and submit your answers to the tutor assigned to you.
  • How do I receive the course materials?
    After you have enrolled with us we will airmail/post you the course starter pack (containing first module of three lessons along with ab enrolment letter, a letter to the student, bibliography, glossary, copy of NewHorizon magazine published by the Institute and a recommended reading list. The subsequent course materials will be sent to you via email.
  • Is there any specific reading material required?
    The course material provided should be sufficient for your studies however we encouraged students to consult other books published by the Institute or browse the internet or visit a local library to conduct further research
  • What kind of assignments do you give us?
    There are questions at the end of most lessons. You will have to submit your answers to the tutor assigned to you.
  • How do I submit my assignments?
    The quickest way is by email in the Microsoft word format. If you do not have access to e-mail then you will have to use the postal service but this may delay matters.
  • What is the typical duration of the course? /  What is the shortest period of time possible to complete the course?
    The duration of the course is 12 months however, many student have been able to complete the course in 6 months.
  • What penalties are there for failing to finish a course on time?
    After twelve months we may apply an administration charge if you wish to extend the study period.
  • Is the course offered in any other language, for example in Arabic?
    No. The course is offered only in English as most international business is conducted in English. However, the course may be offered in a few other languages in the future.
  • How is tuition administered?
    You will submit your assignments to your tutor, in the form of answers to questions at the end of lessons provided to you. If the answers are satisfactory and if they provide the desired information which express enough gaining of knowledge then you will be told to continue to the next stage until you have completed the course work.
  • Besides the question and answer sessions, is there any other interaction between the teacher and the student?
    During the course you may contact the tutor by e-mail for any clarification on the course material or subject matter.
......... EXAMINATIONS
  • Is  there any examination?
    There is no examination during the course and there is no final exam. Your work will evaluated based on your answers to questions submitted to your tutor. On successful completion of the course work you will be awarded the Post-Graduate Diploma and join the ranks of a select group of people who have attained higher education in Islamic finance.
  • What are the criteria used to assess a student throughout the course?
